Powerful new OptiMate charger for all 12V starter batteries
Modern vehicles are packed with electronics and fitted with high-performance batteries to compensate; more advanced, more expensive and far less forgiving when neglected.
The new OptiMate 6 Select is designed to protect that investment: one premium charger that gives every battery exactly the charge it needs, not just something close enough.
Three selectable modes cover every type of 12V starter or auxiliary battery: standard lead-acid (including EFB and GEL), premium AGM, and lithium (LiFePO4). Pick the mode to match the battery and the fully automatic multi-step programme does the rest: no supervision, no risk of overcharging, and completely safe for sensitive vehicle electronics. Your selection is even remembered if the mains power is interrupted.
Its powerful 6 Amp AmpMatic technology automatically adjusts the current to suit the battery’s size and condition, so it can supply the maximum charge when required for speedy recovery. It’s equally at home on a motorcycle, daily driver, a supercar, or motorhome; handling lead-acid batteries from 3Ah right up to 144Ah, and lithium from 2Ah to 68Ah.
Dead-flat battery? The unique OptiMate SAVE mode safely recovers batteries from as low as 0.5 Volts, potentially saving the substantial cost of a replacement. Recovery is tailored to the battery type: a vehicle-safe programme for lead-acid and AGM, while lithium batteries are tested throughout to ensure the cells are recovering normally. If a lithium battery’s built-in protection (BMS) has shut it down, a three-second press of the button resets it and recharging begins automatically.
There’s a bonus for home mechanics and workshops too: at the press of a button, service mode delivers constant, stable power to support the battery during vehicle tuning, diagnostics, and troubleshooting. Press again and it returns to your selected charging programme.
Once the battery is full, the OptiMate 6 Select tests how well it holds its charge, then maintains it 24/7. Just connect and forget, whether the vehicle is used daily or stored for extended periods. The weatherproof (IP54) case is rated for use down to -40°C, with wall mounts and generous 180cm leads for garages, outbuildings or outdoor use.
The OptiMate 6 Select retails at £125.90 including VAT and comes with a comprehensive three-year warranty. It’s ready to use straight out of the box, with a fused battery clamp set included.
